- Effective

- Version
- 5.0.0
- Source

What breaks
Upgrading to this version changes how language generation requests and responses work and removes some previously supported inputs and outputs.
- Sonar model IDs and provider options no longer work
- Request and response metadata format has changed
- Raw stream events have changed
- Usage and cost data format has changed
- Sonar PDF input is no longer supported
- Image and video results are no longer supported
What to do
Update code that references Sonar-specific model IDs, provider options, or relies on the old response/stream shapes.
- Replace Sonar model IDs and provider options with Agent API presets, models, and tools
- Update any code parsing raw response/stream metadata or usage/cost data to match the new Agent API format
- Remove reliance on Sonar PDF input or image/video results, as these are not supported
What the vendor said
The Perplexity provider package now uses Perplexity's Agent API instead of the Sonar Chat Completions API for language generation. Sonar model IDs and provider options are replaced with Agent API presets, models, and tools, changing request/response metadata, raw stream events, and usage/cost data.
