- Effective
- passed 1 Oct 2026

What breaks
Starting October 1, 2026, projects still configured to use Node.js 20 will be affected in the following ways.
- New deployments for projects using Node.js 20 for Functions will display an error and fail to build.
- Node.js 20 will be disabled as a selectable option in Project Settings.
What to do
Upgrade your project's Node.js version before October 1, 2026.
- Change the Node.js version in Project Settings or via the engines field in package.json.
- If you cannot upgrade in time, add a Dockerfile.vercel at your project root to deploy as a container image instead, which builds and deploys on every commit and lets you manage the Node.js version yourself.
